SILICON PROSTHESIS
Indications: congenital or acquired complete or partial defect of one or more fingers, phalanges or hand |
| |
The main point of silicone prostheses primarily is aesthetic supplement. The primary range of silicone prostheses are to supply the fingers of the upper arm, and supply the hand.
A finger prosthesis can be in fact a functional supplement, because for example the patient can work with a computer again with the supplied finger.
Silicon prostheses are made by a special thermosetting two-component silicone material, which is absolutely textilefriendly. The nail is made by acryll. The toning of the silicone is adjusted to the patient's skin. In addition there is an opportunity to imitate realistic pigments. Nails are paintable with nail polish and sluicable with nail-polish remover.
The only drawback of silicone is that injuries on it doesn't heal and cannot be repaired.
The prosthesis holds itself in position by the
Vacuum between the stump and the prosthesis.
The silicon material can be used to supply the lower limb. The applied material is similar to the material applied for upper arm prosthesis in this case. Users of silicone leg prosthesis can wear opened shoe.
An other application of silicone is building cosmetics. In this case the useful attribution of silicone is that the surface of silicone can be prepared like the real skin.
Silicon is usable for making individual liner, if the socket part of the prosthesis is in touch with a special part of the body, like the hip.
In Hungary only OrtoProfil made a special silicone labor, which can match to this kind of needs. |
